"From the Abyss to the Light: The Journey of JoLem"
JoLem is a young dreamer, (Joseph Hatzadik) wounded by his brothers envy and cast into exile. Sold into slavery, he endures silence, imprisonment, and uprooting, sustained only by the memory of his father and the echo of his dreams.
In a foreign land, he faces the trials of power and injustice, until, in the deepest part of the pit, his true strength awakens. His gift for interpreting dreams lifts him up, and his compassion leads him to forgive.
This story is a song to the resilient soul, transforming pain into wisdom and revealing that dreams are the keys to destiny.

The Dream That Gave Birth to an Opera
One night, during one of the most difficult moments of my life, I had a dream that marked me forever. It wasn’t one of those dreams you forget upon waking.
It was clear...!! It was revealing.
I was carrying heavy burdens: family wounds, anger towards my brothers, unresolved issues repeating themselves—like in so many families… distance, inheritance, silence, jealousy, pride. And right there, in the middle of that inner chaos, the dream came. I was alone, in the middle of a vast desert. But I didn’t feel empty. There was a full, dense silence… as if the entire universe was embracing me.
The sky, covered with stars, seemed to breathe.
And suddenly, a warm light appeared. It didn’t burn or blind me. It caressed me.
And from that light, someone emerged: my father.
He didn’t look like I remembered him at the end of his life.
He was whole. At peace. With a gentle voice, he said to me:
“Julito… you have a gift. And it’s not just yours. It was given to you so you can give it.
What will you do with that gift now?
How will you turn so much pain into something that can help others?”
And then, as if opening an invisible door, he added something that still shakes me:
“Tell the story of Joseph. Because there’s something of him in you too.
You know what it means to be different, to fall, to wait, to rise again.
Turn that into music. Let your art carry that message.”
I wanted to hug him. But he disappeared.
I woke up with a peace I had never felt before. It was five in the morning. I couldn’t go back to sleep. I spent hours searching — who was that Joseph? A relative?
A friend of my father’s? A character from our story? And then I remembered: Joseph, son of Jacob.
The one who was sold by his brothers. The one who knew how to wait. The one who chose to forgive.
That’s when I knew: it wasn’t just a dream. It was a calling.
I began writing the song Healing the Past, and with it came the melodies, the story, the need to transform all of that into a complete work. An opera. Since then, I’ve been composing non-stop for over ten months.
This opera was born from a wound, but it’s also a gift.
A gift from my father, who came—in a dream—to remind me who I am and why I’m here.

Artistic and Narrative Essence
JoLem the Dreamer is a pop opera sung as a story, organized in acts, with live music performed
by a symphony orchestra and musicians specialized in ethnic music from various cultures.
The work combines classical structures —overture, arias, duets, choruses, and orchestral interludes
where the music guides the emotion and dramatic development.
The score, written for symphony orchestra, rhythm section, soloists, and mixed choir,
fuses styles such as classical opera, crossover, world music, jazz, and Mediterranean music,
with an expressive foundation characteristic of a modern opera.
The composer weaves the musical narrative as a continuous sequence of key moments,
inspired by the story of Joseph, son of Jacob (Genesis): his childhood, the betrayal by his brothers,
his exile, his rise as governor of Egypt, and his role as savior in the face of famine.
A musical tale that embraces the soul’s complete journey — from birth to redemption.
