JoLém the Dreamer is a groundbreaking Spanish-language crossover opera that fuses lyrical expression, symphonic richness, and contemporary world music into a singular artistic vision. Rooted in the biblical story of Joseph HaTzadik, it recounts the journey of a man betrayed by his own brothers — yet empowered by an inner strength that turns suffering into compassion and exile into legacy.

Drawing on Mediterranean rhythms, folk-pop colors, and ancestral sonic traditions, the score is elevated by immersive 3D scenography and video mapping, creating a multi-sensory experience that is both intimate and epic in scale.

More than a performance, JoLém is an odyssey of the human spirit — a profound exploration of forgiveness, resilience, and transcendence. It speaks to a global audience with a universal message: the courage to forgive can reshape destinies.

Bold in its musical language and visionary in its staging, JoLém the Dreamer redefines what opera can be — a bridge between cultures, generations, and the timeless quest for meaning and redemption.

The Dreamer

between betrayal and forgiveness

The Dream That Gave Birth to an Opera

One night, during one of the most difficult moments of my life, I had a dream that marked me forever. It wasn’t one of those dreams you forget upon waking.
It was clear...!! It was revealing.

I was carrying heavy burdens: family wounds, anger towards my brothers, unresolved issues repeating themselves—like in so many families… distance, inheritance, silence, jealousy, pride. And right there, in the middle of that inner chaos, the dream came. I was alone, in the middle of a vast desert. But I didn’t feel empty. There was a full, dense silence… as if the entire universe was embracing me.
The sky, covered with stars, seemed to breathe.
And suddenly, a warm light appeared. It didn’t burn or blind me. It caressed me.
And from that light, someone emerged: my father.

He didn’t look like I remembered him at the end of his life.
He was whole. At peace.
With a gentle voice, he said to me:

“Julito… you have a gift. And it’s not just yours. It was given to you so you can give it.
What will you do with that gift now?
How will you turn so much pain into something that can help others?”

And then, as if opening an invisible door, he added something that still shakes me:

Tell the story of Joseph. Because there’s something of him in you too.
You know what it means to be different, to fall, to wait, to rise again.
Turn that into music. Let your art carry that message.”

I wanted to hug him. But he disappeared.
I woke up with a peace I had never felt before. It was five in the morning. I couldn’t go back to sleep. I spent hours searching — who was that Joseph? A relative?
A friend of my father’s?
A character from our story?

And then I remembered: Joseph, son of Jacob.
The one who was sold by his brothers. The one who knew how to wait. The one who chose to forgive.

That’s when I knew: it wasn’t just a dream. It was a calling.
I began writing the song Healing the Past, and with it came the melodies, the story, the need to transform all of that into a complete work. An opera.
Since then, I’ve been composing non-stop for over ten months.
This opera was born from a wound, but it’s also a gift.

A gift from my father, who came—in a dream—to remind me who I am and why I’m here.
